Obituary of Dewey D. Van Nort
October 6, 2023, at age 82. Predeceased by his 3 brothers, 1 sister, and his granddaughters, Sandra Fisher & Samantha D’Ambrosia. Survived by his children, Christine (Brent) Hooks of AZ, his son Daniel (Jennifer Cartwright) Van Nort, & Vicki Fisher; his “wife”, Margery Van Nort; Grandchildren, Brian, Brent Jr., Renee, Kenneth, Scarlet, Zachary & Spencer; Great-grandchildren, Taylem, Maddox, Marshall & Sydney; extended Mayne’s family in Edmeston, NY, with whom he lived from the age of 15, with the 5 siblings: Demi Bolton (Tom), Joyce Swartfeger (Terry), Gayle Smith (Dec. Monty), Terry Henderson (Pastor Jay), and brother Bubin; Parents, Jim and Jackie Mayne. Jackie passed this July. Dad considered Mayne’s to be home. Many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Dewey was a U.S. Marine who proudly served the Rochester community as a police officer for 27 years. He also owned and operated a funeral escort service for many years.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, October 28 at Falvo Funeral Home 1395 N Goodman St. Rochester NY 14609 from 11am to 12pm with a prayer service to follow. Donations may be made to Association of Rochester Police and Area Law Enforcement Retirees ARPALER, 1425 Lexington Ave, Rochester, NY 14606.
