Ferrara, Andrew
Rochester, NY: 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at The Friendly Home. Born on April 30, 1929, he was the son of the late Hugo and Lena Ferrara and brother to Alphonse and Oscar Ferrara (Mary Lou).
He was a graduate of East High School and served in the US Air Force from 1947 to 1954 in Germany and North Africa. Andy was married to Ruth Ferrara for 55 years until she passed away in 2007. In 1956 Andy began work at Haloid (Xerox), working in various capacities until he retired as a chemist.
Andy enjoyed fishing, hunting, dog training, walks along the canal and being with family. His most cherished moments were spent on vacation at Alexandria Bay in the Thousand Islands, trips to visit family and friends when his children were young, and being with his grandchildren. Andy served as a Boy Scout Leader in Webster, a Cambridge Court Homeowner Association member in Fairport, and was always ready to lend advice regarding trees and landscaping to whoever asked for it.
He is survived by his children Eileen Dennis (Paul), Alan Ferrara (Patty), and Daniel Ferrara (Kelly) and his grandchildren Kelsey Dennis (Michael Imhoff), Shannon Dennis, Andrew Dennis; Elizabeth Ferrara, Elanore Ferrara, Elaine Ferrara, Emily Ferrara; Hannah Ferrara (Malcolm Smitley)and Shelby Ferrara.
Andrew's family would like to thank The Friendly Home and the volunteers at Lifetime Care for the excellent care and attention they gave him in the last years of his life.
He is entered in The Book of Memories on the Falvo Funeral Home website.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 on Monday, May 12 at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford.
There will be a reception there immediately following the service
