Patrick attended the the National Pastoral Musician Guitar School (GS) for many years. What I remember about him was his love of music, especially guitar music of course, and his curiosity and care for the sung prayer of the church. He cared about leadership skills for leading congregational singing. That is where I met him, at GS. He quickly became the go-to guy there, volunteering his skills as a singer, instrumentalist, Eucharistic Minister, lector (he had a good speaking voice) and even Presiding at Morning or Evening Prayer. His collaborative skills were beyond compare. And of course his smile, easiness, kindness and humor were noticed by all.
He always spoke of his love for his family. Your beautiful tribute to him here is evidence of that. Thank you for posting this beautiful tribute. I am truly sorry for your great loss.
May he be singing and playing with the angels and saints and resting in the arms of God.

Pat was an excellent musician and even better human being. I am truly blessed to have known him, and I will cherish our time together making beautiful music at Lourdes.

To the Gillespie family, my deepest condolences. I worked with Patrick for 12 years at the Webster bus garage. He was an absolute pleasure to see each and every day . Always greeted you with a smile and a positive attitude. I loved his humble spirit and willingness to always step up when our department was in a jam. We've enjoyed his guitar playing on several occasions over the years as he brought joy to everyone around him. He will be missed by us all.

I am a school crossing guard at the 12 Corners in Brighton. Everyday at approximately 3:10pm, Patrick and his big yellow bus #158 would drive by my post. Patrick always had a big smile and an energetic wave to me.
The last time I saw him was on Friday, Jan 10th at 3:10pm.
I was shocked when I heard the news that he had unexpectedly passed away.
My prayers go out to the entire Gillespie family as you greive the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
With warm regards,
Crossing Guard at the 12 Corners in Brighton

I have a lot of good memories from growing up with my brother Patrick. In particular, turning my brother Ron's 45 records into Frisbees and shooting them from across the stairs to each others bedrooms. We will miss him.

I know Patrick for attending what we call guitar school during the summer. It is a gather of liturgical guitarists and ministers of music from around the United States.
Patrick loved playing his guitar and sharing his music ministry. He would also like to jam at night by playing the Beatles with all the rest of us. In getting to know him over the years, he always talked about his family. He was very proud of his family. Patrick is a very loving and compassionate person. He always had a smile and he was always ready to help. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time. God Bless! Debbie Bernhagen in South Carolina

Things I will remember most about my brother Pat. Playing Spud in the formal living room with the fancy pillows (definitely not allowed). Playing BO Spies. Bean pile on Carol, or whoever might be around. He recorded a conversation between sisters and aired it over the radio waves. Making us laugh at the dinner table, again, not allowed. Pat was full of fun, laughter, games, and, yes, scheming all the time. I, of course, knew him as an adult, but these are the memories that come rushing back. I will miss you, dear brother.

I am completely saddened by this news. What a wonderful man are we smiling in the hallway always saying hello to me asking me about my brother always in a good mood 15 years. I’ve never seen this man in a bad mood. A lust for life loved his grandchildren so much. It will be very strange not to see him walking with a guitar, his distinctively, strut and hair kind of waving in the wind a bit rest well Patrick yesterday I held the book in my hand that you once gave me during a hard time, I will never forget you. It was an honor to work with you and know you may you be sitting right next to Jesus you will be missed.
