Obituary of Sandra M. Tenorio
Sandra Michelle Tenorio, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at her home in Fairport, NY on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at the age of 76.
Born on Nov. 13, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Nathan Shames and Libby (Friedman) Shames of Malden, MA. Sandy grew up in Malden, graduated from Malden High School and attended Burdette Junior College.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ruben Tenorio of Fairport; sister Esty (Shames) Daly and her husband James Daly of Baltimore, MD; son, Richard Tenorio and his partner, Laura Arena, of Cambridge, MA; daughter, Jessica (Tenorio) Maginn and her husband, Ryan Maginn of Penfield, NY; and her adored grandchildren, Nathaniel Reyes, Declan Maginn and Breandan Maginn, all of Penfield.
Sandy worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for 18 years and was a kindhearted mentor to many students and program participants during that time.
She was fond of her cats over the years, and was excellent at knitting and baking. She had a great sense of humor, soul and spirit.
The family would like to thank all those who contributed to Sandy’s medical care in the last years of her life.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Road, (Rte. 250) Webster, NY. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at 11 a.m., also at Falvo Funeral Home. Interment to follow at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsfield, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Hope Lodge.
