Obituary of Patricia A. Trunzo
Survived by her adoring husband of 68 years, Dominick Trunzo, and her children: Julie (John) Chantra, Susan (Donald) Provenzano, Jeff (Sandy) Trunzo, and Amy (Joseph) Flinn. She also leaves her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished and was cherished by: Jennifer McGuinn, Tyler; Justin (Michele) Chantra, Gianna, Joey and Ryan; Amy (Chris) Dardis, Ryleigh and Will; Kate (Kyle) Pudney, Emma Kate; Christina Trunzo, Nikki Dunnahoo (Kevin), Kinley and Aleck; Rachel (Ed) Giorgi; Megan (Matt) Dawe, Owen and baby girl Dawe, due in March; Brendan (Josh Watkins) Flinn; her sister Zoe (Jim) Morris and brother Michael (Kathy) Bixby; several loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pat was a vibrant and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Family and home were the most important things in the world to her, and she instilled that love in each of her children and grandchildren. There simply wasn’t a better example of what should be most valued and cherished in life. Nana had a very special and personal bond with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she has made an indelible impact on their lives. She was their biggest fan, and so very proud of each and every one of them.
Born in Lyons, New York, Pat graduated from Leavenworth High School. She and Dominick made their first home in Geneva, New York, before moving to Ontario, New York. Highly organized and extremely capable, she excelled in secretarial and administrative positions with Geneva Welding, Gersh Electric, the Wayne Central School District Superintendent’s office; and Stanton & VanderByl law firm. She served on the Wayne Central Board of Education and the Four County Board of Education. Later in life, she was a successful real estate agent. Upon their retirement, Pat and Dom spent winters in Florida before purchasing a full-time home in Vero Beach, Florida, where they lived happily for 12 years before moving back to be closer to family.
Pat and Dom travelled the world, including many trips to the Caribbean with their dear friends, Paul and Carolyn Pfrommer, as well as to several European destinations. But always, Pat was happiest at home among her family. Pat was known for creating beautiful, comfortable and welcoming surroundings. Home and family were her pride and joy.
We are so lucky to have had this amazing and inspiring woman in all of our lives for 90 years. She was strong, independent, smart, beautiful, loving and loyal. She loved reading, playing games (cribbage, Scrabble, cards, Words with Friends, to name a few), shopping and cooking. Pat also loved using her computer, iPhone and iPad, and was always the first to learn and share the latest news! The memories are countless and unique and will live forever in our hearts. The loss we feel is exceeded only by the impact of her love for each of us, and which we will carry with us all of our lives.
The family would like to thank Germania Valdez for her loving support of Pat and Dom; the caregivers at Cherry Ridge, especially Cashire Johnson; and the Rochester Regional Hospice team for their brief but gentle and attentive care for Pat.
