Obituary of Ursula U. Gentile

Ursula Uta Gentile (Johns) passed away peacefully at age 100 on December 24, 2023.

Ursula was born to Martin and Ida Johns in Albany, New York on June 27, 1923, where she lived for over 90 years. Ursula was predeceased by her parents. Her loving husband Nicholas and her brothers Horst, and Oscar. She is survived by her daughter Nicolette (Donald) Leathersich, her son, Mark (Sharon) Gentile; She was particularly close to her grandchildren, Benjamin (Nicole), Gregory and Nicholas, and her great grandchildren, Aiden and Allison; brother, Martin Jr.

Ursula will be remembered for her strength and generosity. As a part of the greatest generation, she worked during World War II at the Watervliet Arsenal where she met her husband, Nicholas. She followed up with some 40 years at New York Telephone while simultaneously supporting and being the loving matriarch of her family. Until the time of her death, she never forgot a birthday or a holiday and was unrelenting in the support of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at St Ann’s in Rochester, New York whose compassion and care will not be forgotten.
