Obituary of Virginia J. Nicastro

Virginia Jessie Nicastro, 59, of Webster, New York, died November 10, 2023 peacefully at home with her family. Virginia was the daughter of the late John A. and Kathryn A. Clark of Syracuse, NY and was predeceased by her brother-in-law Richard Armstrong of Brentwood, TN; Stepfather-in-law, David Nier. Virginia retired from her position as Air Transportation Manager for Carestream Health, Rochester and previously worked at Kodak and CSX Transportation. Virginia attended St. James School, Bishop Ludden High School and Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. She received her Masters of Business Administration in Logistics from Syracuse University in 1991.  

Virginia was a member of St. Rita’s parish and the Legion of Mary at Holy Trinity Church in Webster.

Virginia battled Stage 4 colon cancer and associated challenges for a remarkable 128 months > (10 years). Virginia lived with faith, determination, grace and courage. Virginia’s greatest joy in life was her husband Gary and her daughters, Marissa and Rose, and her dogs Sophie and Charlie.

In addition to her husband and children, Virginia is survived by her mother-in-law Noreen Nier; her siblings, Mary Frances Clark, John (Christine) Clark, Loretta (Thomas) Hughes, Daniel (Kristen) Clark, Kathryn (Carl) Smeenk, Gregory (Trish Stuver) Clark, Stephen Clark; Aunts, Madeline (John) Muto and Lynn (Rick) Miller; Many cousins, especially Regina Depperman and Thomas McCue; her sister-in-law Darlene (Frank) Moreland; Shay Graham, her dear friend and companion, along with many nephews, nieces and friends. 

Virginia will be remembered for her love of family, her thoughtfulness of others, her sense of humor and her devotion to Jesus, the Eucharist, Blessed Mother Mary and the rosary.

The Nicastro family wishes to thank everyone that helped them walk this journey. Special thanks and appreciation to: Chelsea McCaig, P.A, Dr Aram Hezel, Jacqueline Behr, N.P, Dr Michael Milano, Hannah L, Nurse, Dr Marc Eigg and all the staff of the Wilmot Cancer Center. Additionally, Julie Cohen from St. Rita’s parish, along with family, and the many friends who helped and supported them and most especially those who prayed for Virginia and her family.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday November 14, 2023, from 3 – 7PM at Falvo Funeral Home 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Pt. Rd. Webster, N.Y. 14580. Please join the family Wednesday, November 15, at 10 AM at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 1008 Maple Drive Webster, N.Y. 14580. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

The Nicastro Family has established the The Virginia Nicastro Memorial Fund at Rochester Area Community Foundation.Virginia has always inspired people throughout her life and even though she physically is no longer with us, we will continue to live by her as she guides us and watches over us in heaven.
