Obituary of Ernest James Jackson Jr.

Ernest James Jackson Jr, loving husband, father and beloved reverend went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2023. He was born in Rochester, New York on October 12, 1948, the son of Ernest James Jackson Sr. and Beatrice Smith..

Ernest worked at Economy Paper Company for many years as supervisor. Ernest loved to preach the word of God, fish and spend time with his family and friends. After giving his life to Christ, Ernest became a reverend and devoted his life to spreading the word of God.

Ernest is preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley, his father and mother Ernest Sr and Beatrice; son Sammie Bush; sister Dorothy Cruz; granddaughter Monique Speights; brother-in-law Zeke and sister-in-law Rebecca.

He leaves behind to cherish his life, two daughters and one son: Sharon Speights (Earl), Sylvia Atkinson (Michael), Joey Calhoun (Shannon); six grandchildren: Earl Speights (Sharon), Anthony Heard (La’Kisha), Brianna Martinez (Jesus), Takeera Atkinson, Jazmen Calhoun, Samuel Calhoun; seventeen great-grandchildren; his brother Richard Jackson; his sister-in-law Pauline Similien (George); and cousins, nieces, nephews; and spiritual sons and daughters.

Ernest presence will be missed, but forever treasured in the hearts of his family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 10 am - 12 pm with a service to follow immediately after, both at Joy Community Church, 890 North Goodman Street Rochester, NY 14609.
