I roomed with Leon and Virgil Savoy 1956-1957 at Flak Kaserne U.S Army Kitzingen, Germany they were a great couple of guys. Sadly, Virgil died in a plane crash a few years after returning to the state. Lt Col (ret) John L Patton Kokomo IN
I have fond memories of Leon on our girls’ weekends with Vonnie. He was always very welcoming with his warm voice and laughter. He was very easy going in debates and discussions. It didn’t matter if we agreed or not, he was never bothered and had a knack of keeping things pleasant and light. Despite his dementia, he never lost his sense of humour and gentle manner.
We have a lot of fond memories from our cottage stays on Lake Canandaigua. One of these memories is Leon tripping on the top step of the stairs and bursting through the door head-first into Barb and Dave’s bedroom. He was as shocked and surprised as Barb and Dave! Luckily everyone was decent. He was a good sport about it all and we had a good laugh.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time as they remember Leon’s life well lived. Love always, Rosemary Almas
