Obituary of Shirley M. Jackson
Shirley M. Jackson, loving mother, wife, and Missionary left this earth on June 21, 2023 to rest in the presence of her savior Jesus Christ. She was born in Eustis, FL on February 7, 1943, the daughter of Lillie Mae Stokes and Zeke Stokes.
She was a home health aide, owner of “Shirl’s Daycare” and God fearing, faithful woman that was passionate about drawing others to the Lord. She loved being around people and her home was always welcoming to others. She loved time with her family, fishing, bowling and teaching the word of God.
She was preceeded in death by her mother and father Lillie Mae and Zeke Stokes; one brother and three sister’s: Zeke, Mary Ann and sister’s Rebecca; son Sammie Bush and granddaughter Monique Speights.
She leaves to cherish her life, her loving husband Ernest Jackson; two daughters and one son: Sharon Speights (Earl), Sylvia Atkinson (Michael), Joey Calhoun (Shannon); six grandchildren: Earl Speights (Sharon), Anthony Heard (La’Kisha), Brianna Martinez (Jesus), Takeera Atkinson, Jazmen Calhoun and Sammie Calhoun; seventeen great-grandchildren; her sister Pauline Similien (George); brother-in-law Richard Jackson; and cousins, nieces, nephews; and spiritual sons and spiritual daughters.
She will be greatly loved and missed by her family and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 10 am - 12 pm with a service to follow immediately after, both at Joy Community Church, 890 North Goodman Street Rochester, NY 14609.
