Sue,
We are all so broken hearted for your great loss, the loss for your girls and their mates, the loss for his Mom, brother, sisters and their family, and the loss for his extended family in MA. We’re sorry that the trip to NY to give you condolences with a warm hug in person just did not work out for us.
You were blessed with a good life with Joe, he was a good man. May God bless you with all the support from family and friends that you need. Hold on to all the wonderful memories. Love and prayers, Aunt Donna & Uncle Jim

My condolences to the entire Grassi family on the passing of Joe. While I lost touch with Joe since high school and college, he will always be remembered as a great friend and classmate. As others have pointed out, he was one of the most humble and unassuming people I ever knew. He was an extremely talented individual, including in the classroom and on the athletic fields. While I never had a chance to meet Joe’s family I am sure he was also an incredible husband and father. What makes this even more difficult is that a group of us RL Thomas grads have been reconnecting and sharing our life stories about families, careers, experiences and in some cases….grandchildren. Joe was to join us for our most recent Zoom call this past weekend. I still hope to some day learn of his life story. Again my sympathies to Joe’s entire family. -Jay Rojek (RL Thomas/Clarkson University)

Heartfelt sympathy, love and prayers for all of you, Sue, Jenny and Dom, Haley, Mom, Sisters and Brother- spouses and families. He was a part of us by virtue of marriage and he was a part of us in heart - he was a good man. The miles separated us, yet he was always supportive of family in Massachusetts. The profound loss is deeply felt by all of us. May our loving God guide you through the time ahead and give you comfort, strength and peace.
Our love, Uncle Ray and Aunt Brenda

Sue and family, I was so sorry to hear about Joe. I only worked with him for a couple years back in the late '90's, but he was a guy who made it fun to go to work. He'd come up to you in the lab and ask "How are my 'bestest' software buddies?" You really couldn't help but have a smile on your face when working with Joe. He was such a great guy.

I met Joe in 7th grade. We became close friends throughout High School. We decided to attend Clarkson together and were roommates for all 4 years. We were in each other’s weddings. We were best friends.
Joe was funny, athletic, wicked smart and a loyal family guy. He was always faster than me, had better grades than me, but none of that really ever mattered. He was a loyal friend and we grew up together.
The memories are too numerous to mention, playing pickup basketball in his driveway (he almost always won), his idea of picture in picture TV in the 1970’s (two TVs stacked upon each other), helping each other in the complicated electrical engineering courses at Clarkson (he helped me get better grades than I should have). . He loved the Tigers, White Sox, Dallas Cowboys, Bob Hayes, and Chet Lemon. He had a very dry sense of humor and ate vegetables before it was in vogue..
Joe, you left us far far too soon my friend. I am looking forward to seeing you on the other side for one more hoop game and laughs about our teachers at RLT and professors at Clarkson. Sue, Patty, Robert, Judy, and Virginia – my deepest sympathy for your loss.

There really aren't words to describe the sadness of losing Joe so suddenly and so prematurely. So many memories from days with Xerox, playing softball and of course Joe and Sue's wedding.
Sue, we pray for you and the extended Grassi family to soon find peace.

My thoughts and condolences to the entire Grassi family. Joe was a great friend in high school. I reflect back on his gentle nature, humor, academic excellence and athleticism which I was fortunate to experience in those earlier years. He truly was one to admire for these traits.
