Milton Phillips
Rochester: January 3, 2021.
Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth and son James. He is survived by his children: Daniel (Susan Chlebowski) and Nancy; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Phillips, Sara Phillips, Frances (John) Garwood, Janice (Mark) Stenshorn and many nieces & nephews.
Also predeceased by parents Ida and Alexander and siblings: Maurice, Irving, Solomon, Joseph, David, Leah Markus, Celia Harris and Annette Formicola.
Milton volunteered for 50 years with the ARC of Monroe, where he was passionate in advocating for clients and staff. He was not afraid to speak his mind if he saw something that deserved attention and shared his advice and elbow grease whenever he could help. He generously lent his talents for building, design and repair (and tools) wherever he saw a need, including to his friends and family. He loved to learn new skills, such as upholstering to create an assistive device for a patient at Monroe Developmental Center where he volunteered as well.
Milton worked from a young age and, after serving in the Navy and then returning to Rochester to work at Hickok and then Kodak, retired to help care for his constant companion, his son Jim. They enjoyed many good times fishing, working in the yard, doing woodwork and spending time at their property in Springwater, NY.
Later in life, Milton enjoyed meeting the guys at Dunkin for coffee and a donut “double chocolate” and browsing for deals at Harbor Freight.
Services deferred until when we can all gather safely.
Donations may be made in Milton's memory to the Foundation of the ARC of Monroe (https://arcmonroe.org/donate/) or to the Friendly Home (https://www.friendlyseniorliving.org/donate-now/) where he spent his final days.
