Obituary of Lena L. Soricone

Lena LaDelfa Soricone, of Irondequoit/Rochester, NY passed away peacefully at home on Nov 21st, 2020, after a lengthy illness. She was 93 years old.

The family of Pasquale “Pat” Soricone & Lena LaDelfa Soricone invites you to a celebration of their lives on Saturday June 5, 2021. 9:30am Mass at Christ the King/St Kateri Church, 445 Kings Hwy South, 14617. Interment of ashes at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery immediately following.

A native of Rochester, Lena graduated from East High School in 1945. She was working at Sibley’s in the late 1940s when she met her future husband Pat. For many years she was part of the wonderful team at Attie’s Young Fashions in Panorama Plaza, which is why her children were so smartly dressed. In her civic life, she frequently staffed the local voting booth on Election Day as a representative for the Democratic Party. A long-time resident of Irondequoit, she was well known to elected officials for her passionate advocacy on town growth management matters.

In her youth and young adult life, Lena was a ping pong playing dynamo. That competitive spirit continued into her later years as a devoted and expert Jeopardy fan and Scrabble player. Well-regarded as an excellent cook, she often “held court” in her kitchen, entertaining a myriad collection of friends, neighbors, and friends of her kids while she concocted delicious meals and her famous cut-out cookies. She showed her artistic side through many crafts like sewing, painting, ceramics and more.

Lena is survived by many relatives and long-time friends, including her husband, Pasquale “Pat” Soricone, son Patrick (Todd Tressler) of Seattle/Bologna, son Steven (Linda Testa) of Schenectady, daughter Lisa (Joseph Donis) of Arlington MA, sister Frances (Nico Huisman) of Rotterdam, Netherlands, daughter-in-law Susan Soricone, as well as grandchildren Joseph M. Soricone, Jr. (Neyza Morales), Alexander Donis, and Andrew Donis. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including her beloved Grace LaDelfa and Joe LaDelfa (Janice); and great-grandchildren, Cairo, Joey, Hoya and her namesake Lena.

She is preceded in death by her parents Giuseppe and Grace (DiPaola), siblings Louis, Joseph, Christopher, Louise (Aratari), and son Joseph.
