Obituary of Louis Anthony Tiberio
Louis (Lou) Anthony Tiberio, 86, of Rochester, N.Y., passed away on September 16, 2020 in Rochester.
Funeral Mass will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1355 Hatch Rd. Webster, N.Y., on July 3, 2021, at 10:30. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd., Webster, N.Y., on July 2, 2021 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
Louis was born Luigi Antonio in Rochester, N.Y. to Teodoro and Filomena on February 24.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years Mary (McNutt), parents Teodoro and Filomena, son Paul, and granddaughter Abigail.
Louis is survived by his children: daughter Gerardette (Bill) Deloatche, of Florida, son Theo (Patti) Tiberio of Rochester, son Tom (Tracy) Tiberio of Florida, son Michael Tiberio of Rochester, son David (Lisa) Tiberio of Rochester, daughter Gabrielle (Will) Winterrowd of Ohio, daughter-in-law Lorrie Tiberio and by three siblings: brother Gabriel (Jeanette) Tiberio of Michigan, sister Mary Christina (Daniel) Reardon of Rochester and brother Ted (Cindy) Tiberio of Rochester. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Bernard (Debbie) Bauer, Amanda (Todd) Klayum, Matthew (Kendall) DeLoatche, Brittany (Ian) Schumaker, Jordan Tiberio, Justine Tiberio, Nik Tiberio, Samuel Winterrowd and Jillian Tiberio and nine cherished great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Lou enlisted in the Navy at 18 and was proud to serve his country. After he was discharged, he returned to Rochester where he met his wife (Mary) and started a large family. He worked hard to provide for his growing family and completed his Tool & Die apprenticeship at Genesee Tool & Die before accepting a position at Kodak.
In the mid-sixties, Lou followed his dream of becoming a firemen & joined the St Paul Volunteer Fire Department. He went on to serve about 10 years with St Paul eventually becoming a Certified Paramedic with their Volunteer Ambulance Squad.
Louis began his 30 year career with Kodak at Hawkeye and helped develop the cameras and imaging equipment used by NASA for the Apollo moon landings. In 1968 he was transferred to the newly opened Kodak Apparatus Division (KAD Elmgrove) and assigned to Dept. 26 as an estimator, machinist, designer and shift supervisor. He was a primary contributor to the team that designed & implemented the assembly loops for the Kodak Instamatic 110 cameras and film cartridges. Around 1974 he was appointed General Supervisor in Dept. 26 remaining there until he was reassigned to Dept. 8 Plastic Injection Molding and promoted to Assistant Department Head after implementing a new floor plan which increased productivity. Louis finished his career with Kodak in the Process Engineering Department where he was appointed Project Manager for Kodak’s FMS (Flexible Machining System). Completed in 1990, it was the largest, fully automated, computer CNC manufacturing system in the United States.
Lou took advantage of his early retirement to spend lots of time with his cherished grandchildren & great grandchildren. He quickly took up the hobby of woodworking, making furniture & cabinets in his garage. He also consulted for several small startup businesses in Rochester sharing his vast knowledge of manufacturing.
Throughout his life Lou was passionate about the outdoors and if he had any spare time, you could usually find him fishing or playing golf. He also enjoyed an occasional game of poker and bowling. He once bowled a 298 game in his bowling league.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to The Humane Society at Lollypop Farm and St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
