I am so sorry to learn of Tom's death. As you know better than I do, he was a very special person and gift to all who shared life with him. I will miss his warm smile, kindness, generosity, and serious commitment to those he served as a HIICAP volunteer at Lifespan. I knew him only through these last three years of my work as a Medicare Specialist, but learned today that he had many roles at Lifespan over many years. So many, many people benefitted from his presence and support.
My two most recent memories are from October and January. In October he accepted Ron Brandwein's request to take on the Coordinator Role for HIICAP at the Eastside YMCA during Open Enrollment. He probably shouldn't have, but took it on anyway.
In January he came for Ron's Retirement luncheon wearing oxygen. After the lunch, he reluctantly told me he needed to resign from HIICAP due to his health. He was very clear that he had not wanted to have any attention on himself during the festivities for Ron. So indicative of his humble service.
Peace to all who are his family and friends. We are all richer for having shared life with Tom and sustained by the memories of his witness as a gentle, loving person.
