Obituary of Katherine O'Brien

O'Brien, Katherine "Kim" (Mehrtens) Webster: Kim passed away peacefully on August 9 at age 66 surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her father George Mehrtens, father-in-law Thomas O'Brien, mother-in-law Ellen O'Brien, brother in law Mark Knight, nephew Brendan Kelly. Kim is survived by her loving husband of 45 years and best friend of 50 years, Thomas. 8 Children Thomas (Paula), Emily (Richard Mendolia), Julienne (Matthew Schillaci), Peter (Monica), J.P. (Kate), Timothy (Lindsay), Kevin (Kristina) and Bridgette (Stephen Delucia). Her 12 Grandchildren Giovanni, Nicholas, Thomas (TJ), Luke, Elizabeth, Patrick, Kailyn, William, Benjamin, Isabella, Francis, and Evan 2 stepgrandchildren Kaite and Kevin.Her mother,Nanno Mehrtens. Her siblings Patricia (William Coffin), Nanno (James Hayes), George (Diane), Mary (Lawrence O'Toole), Joan (Roger Marks), Gina (Mark Williams), John, Joseph (Bernadette), Eileen and Thomas. Also In Laws (O'Brien) Jo Ellen Hickey, Alice, Marian, Mary Kelly, Daniel (Linda), Geraldine Murphy, Christopher, and 55 nieces and nephews. Kim graduated from Molloy College and spent 2 years teaching the 2nd grade, then devoted much of her life to raising her 8 children and afterwards she went to work at Strong Memorial Hospital for 17 years, where she developed some great friendships and helped others. Kim's life was her love of God, family and friends. She was completely devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren and stopped at nothing to make each and every one happy. Her countless sacrifices for others, kindness and love will always be remembered. The family would like to thank the staffs at The Lipson Cancer Center and the Leo Center for Caring for their incredible care and support. Kim's calling hours will be held on Friday from 4pm to 8pm at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fpt Nine Mile Point Rd. (Webster). On Saturday please meet the family 11:15am at St. Ritas Church, 1008 Maple Drive (Webster) for her funeral mass. Interment West Webster Cemetery.
