I received today a note from Roseanne's mom about Roseanne's passing and home coming with Richard. Even though Roseanne and I never met in person, we were friends bonded in love. We met on the John Hopkins' message board for pancreatic cancer when both Richard and my husband, George, were first diagnosed. She and I talked often over the years. She was a very special person and my dear friend.
Please accept my heart felt sympathy. I wll miss her deeply. With love, Judy (901/494-9834)

It was 5th grade...a very difficult year for me socially at school. When others were quite less than kind...and several actually made my school life rather miserable, Roseanne (though not one of my friends) ALWAYS treated me kindly and on several occasions stood up for me when the words of others stung. Though the years have passed and I moved on to use that painful experience to help other children deal with various childhood peer issues. ..and admittedly have not thought about Roseanne in almost 40 years....I find myself this morning sobbing as I look at this picture of the sweet, loving soul, whose eyes the 5th grader in me remembers vividly as ethereal and had the ability to see through me at a crucial moment in my childhood. She never knew what that moment meant to me....or that I looked up to her for her kindness and beauty, and aura that caused others to want to be part of her circle of friends. She never knew...and I never knew just how powerful her limited interaction with me meant back then...until this very moment. Though I am rarely on facebook, and not one to comment, I was overwhelmed to do so today, to remind us all just how powerful and long lasting a moment of kindness can be to another human being. I send my sincere condolences to her family and friends, as I know without doubt her soul is with God.
