The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand,
the sun goes down but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.
The music stops and yet it echoes on in sweet refrain…
for every joy that passes, something beautiful remains.

The love we have for Jim Will never fade away. We'll think of him, our special friend Throughout each passing day. We'll walk into the room And see his empty chair; Although we know he's resting, We'll feel his presence there. The memories of his laughter, His warm and loving smile, His eyes so full of happiness, His heart that of a child. Memories are forever Be they laughter or of tears, Memories we will treasure Through all the forthcoming years.

To Kay and the family, I already miss Jim. In fact I missed him during this entire golf season. It was always fun to be playing in his group, he had a great attitude, was a solid golfer, and was a real gentleman. I share in your grief but can only thank you and Jim for being so brave as his health declined. How wonderful it was for you to host groups and individuals at your home these past few months. How brave it was of Jim to come and see us during the member-member tournament. You are duly proud of Jim but give yourselves a big pat on the back for being there for Jim. . . . Jules

I remember growing up with papa. We had some really fun times together. I remember how he let me and Kierra sit on his lap and drive on the back roads. I remember going to the Taylor's pool with him. He could swim all the way across the pool under water with one breath and I never could. I remember hiking with him, he always knew exactly where to go. He never got lost. I remember the conversations we had at night until we fell asleep. I would make Nanny sleep in my room with Kierra. I remember how he would do his streches every morning and I tried to do them too. They weren't as easy as he made them look. My favorite memory with papa was driving around with him, and fighting over the radio. He never wanted it on and I did so we made a deal: If I didn't sing he would put it on but just loud enough so you could hear it if there was no other noise. There are a million more memories I could put here.
I love you papa.

God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you,
And whispered "Come to me."
With tearful eyes we watched you,
As you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly.
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
I love you Papa Jim (Pops)

To Kay and family, Jim will be missed and I am very sorry for your loss. I met Jim after joining Wild Wood 3 years ago and every time I saw him there it was like a breath of fresh air. I remember a curling down hill putt he made on #7 which was a putt that was very difficult. I was amazed when it went in and Jim was too. I always enjoyed talking to Jim at the course and will miss his company. He was always a gentleman and I know he lived his life in a similar fashion. It was so nice to talk to him for a few minutes at the Member Member tournament. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God bless.

Kay, Your love sustained Jim. His strength is now passed on to you. Together you built a life and love of friends and family who are there for you this day forward. Find comfort in what you both built. You know Jimmy. He would have wanted you to live, laugh, love and continue to be the Kay he loved and trusted so completely. Find strength in his memory which lives always in your heart, my friend. I love you, Fran

Dear Kay, My heart breaks thinking of the void in all of your lives with the passing of Jim. He truly was one of the good guys. I appreciate the kindness, love & support you have shown to his friends and I by opening up your home so we could visit, when he could no longer get out. I treasure those visits. I was blessed to have met him and you. I hope we can continue our friendship. Thanks for taking such good care of him. He will be dearly missed. Love, Sandie

Jim, i will cherish the memories we shared together. Like the family vacation, where we waited in line for an hour and you losing your patience, just for you and Kay to get soaking wet on Duddley's Dolittle log flume. Yeah, not to mention Kay was wearing a white t-shirt. I will never forget all you have done for my family and me and will remind my children often of what a kind and generous man you were. May you rest peacefully.

I was so sorry to hear that Jim lost his battle against cancer. Through it all he showed an amazing amount of courage and grace. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and will be missed by all. I am so glad I got a chance to know him while working together at Penfield. He was always a gentleman and a pleasure to be around. It was also very obvious how much he loved all of his family and how proud he was of them. I sorry I was not able to express my condolences in person tonight, but please know I thought he was a great guy.

We were so shocked and saddened today when heard the news of Jim’s passing. At one time close friends, sadly we lost touch with Jim and Kay over the years as such things occur in busy modern lives. We shared many fun times with Jim and Kay in past years and regret we did not make a greater attempt to keep the friendship going. Kay, you have our deepest sympathy for the loss of such a wonder life partner and truly good man. Kurt, Kim and Kelly - we also offer you our deepest sympathy for the loss of your wonderful father. With much love and affection, Lynn and Gary

We only wish that we had more time to spend with him. Love you Kay. Sincerely, Sue and Steve Durham
