Dear Diane and all the children and grandchildren. I saw the article in the paper today and I just wanted you all to know that Sam is still in our thoughts and prayers. I think about him often, and will always cherish the times we spent just talking and laughing about things we did while on the job. He will remain with me until the day I die, as will you all. I loved Sam like a brother and I feel it was my pleasure to know him for as long as I did.

Diane - so hard to believe that a year has passed. I think of Sam often and smile. When he comes up in conversation with our mutual friends we laugh out loud at the great memories. I hope you are doing well and that your loss is somewhat eased with the passing of time.

You and your family are in our prayers,Sam was a good friend to us over the years, I got to know him through the German House which become known as a gathering place for Law Enforcement and it continued through the years that we owned Shield's Restuarant. We enjoyed good times together along with not so good times, but through it all we remained close with our Brothers & Sisters in Blue. I am proud to have been called a Friend. God Bless you family and my you have comfort knowing that the LORD is watching over you. Anne & Steve

Dear Cerami Family I read of your loss, and would like to offer my condolences. Not long ago, I lost a member of my family and I understand the grief and sorrow that you and your family are feeling at this time. Although words cannot fill the emptiness of your loss, I would like to share with you the promise stated at John 5:28,29. " All those in the memorial tombs will hear his(JESUS) voice, and come out to a resurrection of life.." May I assure you, I am not trying to give or change your religion. The pain of loss is felt, regardless of religion. May you be strengthened and comforted by friends and family during this VERY difficult time.

Sam was a great cook and would prepare fantastic meals for the officers on our Saturday work days. On one occasion Sam was preparing a huge pot of white clam sauce. The delicious aroma was all through the Downtown Section office when the Chief of Police called me and told me to meet him at the front door. You don't expect to see the Chief pop in on a Saturday, so Sam and a couple guys who were in the kitchen grabbed the pot and went out the back door. If the Chief noticed the smell of the clam sauce he didn't mention it.
The sauce ended up in the back of the wagon and sure enough some officers were chasing a shoplifter down E. Main St. Sam, with the wagon, responded and of course the sauce was sloshing all over the back of the wagon. The suspect was caught but before he was put in the wagon the sauce pot, now half full, had to be transfered to a car. The wagon never smelled so good.
