Obituary of Mary Anne Hill
Mary Anne Hill, 91, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on July 29th. A woman of deep faith and vibrant spirit, Mary Anne was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, caring aunt, and a "Forever Friend" to many.
Born on June 26, 1935 in Holley, New York to Francis “Butch” and Agnes (Cooney) Ennis. Mary Anne attended Mercy High School where she formed life-long friendships and discovered a passion for writing and drama. She later married Jon Hill, and together they built a beautiful 62-year marriage centered on faith and family. Mary Anne was an active and devout member of catholic parishes including Saint Monica, Good Shepherd, and Holy Trinity.
Mary Anne embraced her matriarchal role and proudly raised her four boys while Jon focused on their family business, Hill Heating Systems Inc,. After raising her children, Mary Anne worked for Channel 31 and Channel 13 as a television commentator, followed by a decade-long employment with the University of Rochester, where she loved her work and her co-workers even more.
Mary Anne had a wonderful zest for life; she loved to read, write, and share a laugh with her family and friends. She was a larger-than-life fan of Neil Diamond, sharing a love for his music with her husband Jon that was passed down to their children.
Mary Anne is survived by her devoted children Peter (Patti), Paul (Tracy), David (Stacey) and Greg (Jennifer). She is also survived by her 10 loving grandchildren Brian, Lindsay, Kevin (Emma), Sheila (Michael), Davis (Madison), Sarah, Bo, Griffin, Matthew, and Gavin Hill; She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Gracie & Tommy; As well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who also adored “Aunt Mary Anne”. She was the loving sister of Robert (Ann) Ennis and Janice (Robert) Quinn and a beloved sister-in-law to Dick (Liz) Hill, Donn (Freda) Hill, Robert Hill, Sue (Danny) Maher, and Sally (Roger) Hoffman.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Falvo Funeral home, 1295 Webster Rd (Route 250), Tuesday, August 11th from 4:00 to 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 10:30 am Wednesday, August 12th at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Webster. The Mass will also be live-streamed at www.holytrinityweb.org. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shepherd Home in Penfield or St. John’s Meadows. Fund contributions in her name will be matched by the family.
